Tropical Treehouse

Parking Spaces

Nestled in the lush hills of Rincon, Puerto Rico, our unique treehouses lie secluded amongst 12 acres of bamboo and tropical forest. Only 5 minutes from the beach by car, the property has spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, with unparalleled privacy amid the forest. The land has been landscaped with over 35 species of tropical bamboo.

Harvested mature timber bamboo is used as the major structural component of the treehouse- a design engineered, built, and managed by the owner. The hooch, as they are affectionately referred, could be described as an inverted pyramid, with a single point foundation- a metaphor for its small footprint design philosophy. To keep the hooch upright and structurally resilient (we do get hurricanes occasionally), they are secured to surrounding mango tree with cables. Rather than apart from the environment, they are integrated.

The sunset hooch has the best view, but the Buddha hooch is more than twice its size. Both have amenities that insure a comfortable stay: bathroom with flush toilet, shower, solar hot water, a fully stocked kitchenette (with complimentary Puerto Rican coffee), and a bamboo queen size bed in the penthouse suite.

Leisure activities

Rincon is a sleepy surf town- site of the 1968 world surfing championships. Activities include surfing, snorkeling (a world heritage site), miles of beach walking, horse-back riding, pubs, and world class restaurants. Nearby are waterfalls, cave exploring (third largest cave system in the world), and beautiful mountain roads to get lost. Or, just chill, and get lost in a treehouse. Either way, a most pleasant stay.

Additional information

Puerto Rico has added many new flights from Europe and the U.S.- a most enjoyable respite from the winter. We are located on the western most tip of Puerto Rico, so a flight into Aguadilla (BQN) would provide only a short 1/2-hour trip to the treehouse. Flights into San Juan are still accessible, albeit a slightly longer drive – 2-3 hours. Either way, plenty to see and do on the island.

Sunset Hooch: $140/night (a couple- max.)(this price includes Puerto Rico room tax)

An extra single bed can be arranged that fits beneath the queen size bed (includes mosquito net)- $160/night

Buddha hooch: $170/night (a couple- max.)(this price includes Puerto Rico room tax)

An extra single bed can be arranged- $40
